Lip blush Pre-care advice

To ensure the best results from your Lip Blush treatment and to promote optimal healing, please follow the guidelines below:

You need to wait about 4 weeks of a lip filler profedure in order to have a semi permanent lip blush treatment.

7 Days Before Your Appointment:

  • Exfoliate & Hydrate: Gently exfoliate your lips with a sugar scrub or a soft toothbrush every other day, and apply a nourishing lip balm regularly.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your lips soft and moisturized.
  • Avoid Alcohol & Caffeine: Minimize these to prevent thinning of the blood.
  • No Blood Thinners: Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and other blood-thinning medications unless prescribed by your doctor.
  • No Tanning: Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds, as sunburnt skin cannot be treated.

3-5 Days Before:

  • Cold Sore Prevention: If you’re prone to cold sores, start taking a prescribed antiviral (like Acyclovir) to prevent an outbreak, as lip blush can trigger one.

24 Hours Before:

  • Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine, and Heavy Exercise: These can increase bleeding and sensitivity.
  • No Lip Fillers: Do not get lip filler or Botox at least 4 weeks before or after your lip blush appointment.
  • Avoid Smoking: If possible, avoid smoking as it can affect pigment retention and healing.

On the Day:

  • Clean, Bare Lips: Come to your appointment with clean lips, free of makeup, lip balm, or skincare products.
  • Eat Something: Have a light meal to maintain your blood sugar level and keep you comfortable during the session.
  • Dress Comfortably: The procedure can take 2–3 hours, so wear something comfortable and relaxing.

Lip blush Aftercare advice

  • Keep Your Lips Moisturised

Immediately after the procedure, your lips might feel dry and sensitive. Use a gentle, fragrance-free healing ointment or a recommended lip balm to keep your lips moisturised. Apply it regularly, especially when you feel any tightening or dryness.

  • Avoid Water Exposure

In the first week post-treatment, limit exposure to water. Avoid swimming, hot tubs, and saunas, as excessive moisture can disrupt the healing process and affect the pigment retention. When washing your face, use a washcloth around your lips to keep them dry.

  • Skip the Makeup

For the first few days, don’t apply any makeup on your lips. Lipstick, gloss, or other cosmetic products can irritate the area and increase the risk of infection. Allow your natural skin barrier to restore around your new lip blush tattoo.

  • Stay Away from Direct Sunlight

  • Avoid Picking or Scratching Until the healing process is over

  • Use antiviral cream for cold sores prevention or during outbreak

Cold sores can sometimes appear after a lip blush session - this is a normal response if you carry the herpes simplex virus  (HSV-1), even if you have never had a cold sore before. Therefore, it is essential that you take an antiviral medication such as acyclovir (Zovirax) or valacyclovir (Valtrex) 3 days before and 3–5 days after your lip blush appointment (even with  preventative measures).

  • Stay Patient

Your lip color will undergo various transformations during the healing process, initially appearing vibrant before softening to a more natural hue. Keep in mind that results will improve with time as your lips continue to heal.

By adhering to these aftercare tips, you’ll give your new lip blush tattoo the best chance for stunning, lasting results. Embrace the process, and soon enough, you’ll be flaunting your beautifully enhanced lips with confidence!

Please keep in mind that it is highly recommended to have your touch up appointment after 4 - 6 weeks to get best results and retention.
